3 Covid-19 vaccine options, 1,900 appointments open at noon today in Onondaga County

Syracuse, NY – Three more registration opportunities for the Covid-19 vaccine are online today at noon – including about 1,900 more vaccine appointments on Friday and Sunday.

Most of these options are specific to the elderly. All are exclusive to Onondaga County residents.

Here’s what you need to know about the three options:

900 vaccines at Onondaga County Friday clinic

Who qualifies: Anyone allowed to get the vaccine, regardless of age. But this clinic is mainly for teachers, civil servants and other frontline employees who are now eligible for the injection. Some appointments will be available for seniors.

How to apply: The nomination website will open at noon, Onondaga County executive Ryan McMahon said on Wednesday. He expects them to be completed in 30 minutes.

When does it open? Noon, Thursday, January 28th.

Telephone option? The county is reserving some appointments for seniors who call 211.

993 vaccines at Oncenter on Sunday

Who qualifies? Anyone aged 65 or over who lives in Onondaga County.

How to apply: These bookings are made through the Kinney Drugs website. Visit the vaccination page and click on New York to start the process.

When does it open? Noon, Thursday, January 28th.

Telephone option: Not now. Kinney officials ask people not to call local pharmacies. That’s not how to make an appointment.

10,000 places on ONList, the waiting list for seniors

Who qualifies? Anyone aged 65 or over who lives in Onondaga County.

How to apply: The county will add the registration link to the site today. Look here and here.

This online registration is much simpler than making an appointment online. The elderly will fill out a form with their name, date of birth and contact information. This will put you on a waiting list for the vaccine. The County and Kinney Drugs will randomly select from this list starting next week. Consultations will be made week by week, depending on the vaccine stock.

Telephone option: Not now. Onondaga County is working with Syracuse University to open a phone bank. Students would help seniors with their online applications. This has not been opened until today.
