South Carolina football, led by new coach Shane Beamer, has a ton of questions for the 2021 off-season, after asking 2-8 in 2020.
Former Texas defensive coordinator and former Florida coach Will Muschamp was hired to lead the Gamecocks after Steve Spurrier’s 10.5 seasons. He started his first three seasons with an overall record of 22-17, including a 9-4 record in his second year.
Despite a strong start, Muschamp continued last year and this season with a 6-13 record. The Gamecocks started the season with a 2-5 record that resulted in Muschamp being fired shortly before the end of the regular season. South Carolina ended the season with a 2-8 overall record.
His first three games of the season were against teams ranked in Tennessee, Florida and Auburn. There was a good moment after a 41-7 victory at Vanderbilt and a shocking 30-22 victory over No. 15 Auburn.
Needing to take solid direction, especially with the Clemson Tigers competing in the same state, the Gamecocks hired Oklahoma assistant / tight end coach Shane Beamer to be their new head coach. Beamer is a trainer who has a long history with the program and with the state of South Carolina.
Beamer is a former assistant of the 2007-2010 Gamecocks in several different positions under Spurrier. He will lead Gamecocks in the off-season and a new breath of culture in the off-season and will try to bring a winning team to Columbia for the first time since 2018.
What questions will Gamecocks face in this off-season?
