3 arrested after search at Menomonee Falls CBD

Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department

Three people were arrested after Waukesha County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a dispensary that called itself CBD on Tuesday, March 30.

According to the sheriff’s department, an investigation into the business – Superstar Buds – began after authorities learned of a non-fatal overdose incident involving two young children who accidentally ingested a CBD-related product. In the incident, the suspect product was obtained by the parents of the Superstar Buds children.

During the investigation that led to the search warrant, investigators obtained evidence that the company was selling products containing prohibited levels of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). These products were labeled by the company as CBD or delta-8-THC.

Wisconsin state law allows the sale of CBD-related products. However, CBD-related products may have a delta-9-THC content of no more than 0.3%. According to the sheriff’s department, several of the products obtained from Superstar Buds during the investigation showed delta-9-THC levels in excess of 20%.

The investigators seized several additional products from the company during the execution of the search and seizure warrant that were labeled CBD or delta-8-THC and believed to contain prohibited amounts of delta-9-THC.

The charges will be brought to the Waukesha County Public Prosecutor’s Office at a later date.

The sheriff’s department noted that Superstar Buds is located in the vicinity of Menomonee Falls North Middle School.
