2022 Mercedes EQS futuristic interior fully revealed in official images

The future of Mercedes-Benz vehicles is almost here, arriving with the new 2022 Mercedes EQS. Although not the first EQ model to be introduced, the flagship EQS is the first model based on the company’s modular architecture for luxury electric vehicles and executives.

As such, designers in Stuttgart were given the freedom to create a completely new interior design and experience for the driver and occupants. The production version of the cabin is totally different from the EQS concept, so forget about it and scroll down to see the bunch of official images provided.

The new MBUX Hyperscreen is at the forefront of this design evolution, presented by three large monitors under a single scratch-resistant glass that covers the entire panel. Noteworthy, the system uses eight CPU cores, 24 GB of RAM and 46.4 GB per second of RAM bandwidth.

Although not seen in the official images, the basic EQS model not equipped with MBUX Hyperscreen will have a different layout. Common to both, however, is the lack of a transmission tunnel.

In addition to the MBUX Hyperscreen, Mercedes said that the EQS was made to be experienced with practically all the human senses, namely, visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile. Yes, olfactory, since the EQS comes with a high efficiency particulate filter (HEPA) that cleans and filters the outside air that enters the cabin. As part of the Air-Balance package, EQS also has an active fragrance, which comes with a new fragrance called No.6 Mood Linen.

In terms of tactile perception, MBUX Hyperscreen offers tactile feedback that uses force feedback on both the center and passenger display. There are also 12 actuators located under the touch screen surfaces, which can trigger a tangible vibration on contact. Other elements in the cabin that stimulate the feeling of touch are the materials used and knowing Mercedes, you know what to expect.

Obviously, the eyes are among the main focus of EQS interior design. In addition to the visual game with textures, a game with ambient lighting was used throughout the cabin. Door panels, on the other hand, would be borrowed from the interior design of modern spaces. Interestingly, the needles on the digital meters show a laser sword effect.

Auditory stimulation begins even before the driver and passengers enter the 2022 EQS, with sounds greeting them as they approach and enter the vehicle. In addition to the 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system, there are two standard vehicle soundscapes called Silver Waves and Vivid Flux, while steering sounds, which change depending on the driving mode and other dynamic driver inputs, are optional and produced by internal speakers.

Most importantly, EQS is available with soothing sounds called Forest Glade, Sounds of the Sea and Summer Rain, which can be selected during stops to promote relaxation. In other words, Mercedes wants you to recharge your body while recharging the EQS battery.

Speaking of charging, although not mentioned in the recent long press release, Mercedes announced earlier that there will be 500,000 Mercedes Me Charge locations supported worldwide, including more than 200,000 of them in Europe. The EQS will also have a range of more than 435 miles (700 kilometers) in the WLTP test.

The 2022 Mercedes EQS will be launched in Europe in August. We will know more details by then, but we know that it will be built alongside the S-Class and the S-Class Maybach in the carbon-neutral “Factory 56” at the Sindelfingen plant.
