Mercedes-Benz is currently promoting its state-of-the-art MBUX Hyperscreen information entertainment system during this year’s virtual Consumer Electronics Show, and the company’s video showcase for technology includes a glimpse of the future EQS EV. A complete debut of the luxury sedan should not be far behind.
The unique view of the EQS highlights its rear. While the body is mostly in the shade, it is possible to see the taillights with a strip that measures the width of the tail. A sleek roof line gives the sedan a smooth silhouette.

The EQS will have a powertrain offering more than 435 miles (700 kilometers) with a load in the WLTP test. Rumors suggest that it would be launched at 470 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 560 pound-feet (759 Newton-meters). An AMG version can eventually arrive with more than 600 hp (447 kW).
The EQS Hyperscreen measures 56 inches wide and comprises three monitors. The configuration includes a digital instrument panel, a huge infotainment monitor and a passenger-specific screen. The person seated can assist the driver by controlling the sound or navigation system. In addition, in some markets, the system can even play streaming video.
For greater occupant comfort, there is an optional HEPA air filtration system. It occupies part of the space under the hood that would normally be for the combustion engine.
If the EQS sedan is not your style, Mercedes already confirms that a crossover version is on the way. All signs point to it using the same Electric Vehicle Architecture platform as the car, so that buyers would have all the same amenities, but with a higher ride height and a more robust appearance.
Mercedes has not yet said when the EQS will debut, but we know it is early 2021. Sales start before the end of the year.
