Raptor is back, but he doesn’t have a V-8 … yet.
On Wednesday, the Blue Oval unveiled the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor with a high-powered version of the 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine from Ford.
The power numbers have not been announced, but they will not be enough to face the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. However, good things will come for those who wait.
Ford spokesman Dawn Mckenzie said Motor Authority the Ford F-150 Raptor R arriving in 2022 will have a V-8 under the hood.
McKenzie declined to comment on which V-8 or whether it is turbocharged, supercharged or naturally aspirated. All signs point to a supercharged V-8.

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor
Ford could easily power the 5.0-liter V-8, although this is not the path of least resistance.
The Predator V-8, a 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 that produces 760 hp in the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, is available at Ford’s parts depot. Theoretically, it would fall into the engine compartment of the F-150 without any adjustment problems, although the rest of the transmission system may need to be reinforced to handle the immense power.
In 2020, we also learned that Ford is reportedly working on a new 6.8-liter V-8. To be built at the Windsor engine factory, it would come from the only source of the 5.0-liter V-8 offered on the 2021 F-150. The new engine should be produced in different cylinders above 6.0 liters for different applications. It is unclear whether Ford has any intention of fueling this new V-8, but one or more of these versions can be used in the Raptor.
The first-generation Raptor was offered with a 5.4-liter V-8 and a 6.2-liter V-8. The 5.4-liter V-8 was soon abandoned, and the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 replaced the 6.2-liter V-8 in the second generation of the Raptor, which started in 2016.

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor
The third generation Ford F-150 Raptor is an evolution of the second generation truck with a bolder and more square front, 37 inch tires available on 17 inch aluminum wheels and a new five link rear suspension configuration with coil springs .
The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor will go on sale this summer. Ford did not detail how much its V-6 biturbo will do, but it made 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque in the 2020 model. The 2021 model is likely to improve these numbers a little.
Rumors have been circulating for more than a year about the return of the V-8 on the Raptor. Now it will finally happen, but not in 2021.
