The 2021 Baseball Hall of Fame class will be empty.
No candidate reached the 75% limit in the BBWAA vote. Most notably, Curt Schilling (71.1), Barry Bonds (60.7) and Roger Clemens (61.6) fell short.
All three have another year of voting eligibility before their destinations in the Hall of Fame go to the Veterans Committee.
This marks the ninth time that no contestant has been voted for the Hall of Fame. The classes of 2013, 1996, 1971, 1965, 1960, 1958, 1950 and 1945 were also empty.
Cooperstown will still have a celebration, however. After the 2020 ceremony was canceled due to concerns over COVID-19, Derek Jeter, Larry Walker, Ted Simmons and Marvin Miller will finally achieve their consecration.
