2021 Shelby Super Snake Speedster slides into view

On Saturday, high-performance vehicle maker Shelby American announced a series of new super-fast models Fords including the 2021 edition of the Speedster Super Snake. This two-seater car offers extra style and a lot of performance.

The new Speedster is based on the Super Snake coupe (which in turn is based on the Mustang GT), a car inspired by an experimental vehicle built in 1967. Naturally, these two Mustangs share the same basic hardware, which means that the Speedster comes with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine crowned by a polished Whipple supercharger, a combination which provides 825 horsepower when fed with 93 octane fuel. That’s a little bit healthier than the Shelby GT500’s 760 ponies, and it’s enough to get this car up to 100 km / h in just 3.5 seconds.

Helping the engine to breathe and adding a little theatricality, it exhales through a Borla exhaust system. A manual or automatic transmission is offered, although to ensure that the car can really put as much power on the asphalt are the high-performance semi-axles that should not be tied up when you step on the gas. Forged aluminum wheels measuring 20 inches, Shelby-spec tires and Brembo brakes complete the Speedster’s most important hardware.

Optional on all Super Snake models are painted racing stripes (an attractive addition), a special widebody package, Penske track suspension system and a rear seat with harness bar. These goodies add an additional $ 4,995 to the already prodigious price of the car.

Inside, the Super Snake Speedster features Shelby-specific updates, such as new floor mats and sill moldings, an exclusive gauge set and a special convertible light bar. Only 98 Super Snake coupes will be built in 2021 to commemorate what would have been the 98th anniversary of the founder of the company Carroll Shelby (a strange milestone to celebrate, but whatever), however, the Speedster model is even rarer. Only 25 of these outdoor Mustangs will be offered in the United States. Naturally, each will be included in the official Shelby Register.

As for the price, the Super Snake package costs $ 79,995 if you want to furnish the donor car yourself. The total price if Shelby buys a new Mustang GT for you is $ 133,785. For added peace of mind, each of these Shelbys is backed by Ford’s standard three-year / 36,000-mile powertrain warranty, so you shouldn’t have to worry too much about the engine or transmission emitting a “Bang!” during drag racing or participating in an open track day. But even if something fails, it must be replaced under warranty.
