2021 SEC football calendar: Alabama in Florida among the highlights matches with dates set for next season

A 2020 SEC Championship Game rematch is arriving in Week 3 of the 2021 season, as Florida will host Alabama on September 18. The fight between current national champion Crimson Tide and the Gators is one of the first attractions on the SEC’s schedule, which was released in full on Wednesday.

The first week of the season will consist entirely of non-conference games, and the second week features just one game between SEC teams with Missouri playing in Kentucky. But Week 3 will put Alabama and Florida in the spotlight, as both will try to replace the defenders who were finalists for the Heisman Trophy in 2020. The Crimson Tide will have games against Miami (FL) and Mercer under their command, while Florida will enter the case high stakes having played in the FAU and in South Florida.

It will be the first time Alabama has been playing inside The Swamp since 2011, and the Gators have been looking for a decade of revenge with a 0-7 mark against Tide since 2009.

While many of the league’s major non-conference games are scheduled for the first week of the season, Week 3 will bring an intriguing game to Auburn coach Bryan Harsin’s first year. The Tigers are scheduled to play at Penn State that week, after Harsin took office with games against Akron and Alabama State in the first few weeks.

SEC fans who wish to schedule weddings in the fall can be October 23 or 30. Of the 14 teams in the league, 11 are expected to have byes on one of these two dates. Outliers are Ole Miss (September 25), State of Mississippi (October 9) and Vanderbilt (November 6).
