The 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards was announced Thursday morning by Lily Collins (“Mank,” “Emily in Paris”) and Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”, “Snowpiercer”) on the SAG Awards Instagram page, after a few technical hiccups.
The films that lead the exceptional performance of a cast in a film are “Da 5 Bloods”, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”, “Minari”, “One Night in Miami” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7”. In the lead actress race, Amy Adams, Viola Davis, Vanessa Kirby, Frances McDormand and Carey Mulligan will compete; while the lead actor’s race is between Riz Ahmed, Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman and Steven Yeun.
Notably, Boseman received two posthumous nominations, as a lead actor in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and supporting actor for “Da 5 Bloods”.
As a result of the pandemic, the SAG Awards, normally held in January, went back a few months to April 4. The ceremony will air on TNT and TBS at 6 pm PT / 9 pm ET.
