The college basketball season – every four months and changes – comes down to that. We have a Final Four and Houston and Baylor will give us a tip in style on Saturday at CBS.
Number 1 seed bears are making their first appearance in the Final Four since the tournament expanded and for the first time since 1950. Number 2 cougars are making their first appearance since the Phi Slama Jama era, more than three decades ago.
Baylor is the slight favorite here after a historic season that will be considered the best in the program’s history, regardless of the ending. He enters game 26-2 with double-digit wins in each of the tournament games. Of his 26 wins this season, 21 had a margin in excess of double digits.
However, Houston is not a Cinderella. Now 28-3, the Cougs have lost just twice in the calendar year 2021. And since losing to AAC regular season champion Wichita State on February 18, they are putting together a streak of 11 consecutive wins on Saturday.
