Report: Sixers, Heat leading the chase for Lowry

Where he ends remains unknown, but the list of suitors for him always seems to be growing. The Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat, according to several reports, appear to lead the group of teams that chase him – with the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers also in this mix.

Report: Celtics are ‘all in’ in chasing Gordon
The Boston Celtics have been linked to Aaron Gordon in trade negotiations for a few days and that doesn’t seem to be fading. By Mark Murphy from Boston Herald, a league source says the Celtics are “all in” when it comes to chasing Gordon. The Celtics would have offered Orlando Magic a choice in the first round and a young player, but that player is not Marcus Smart.
Murphy reports that Orlando may be looking for a choice for the second round of trade, but basketball operations president Danny Ainge is trying to avoid sending two of those choices into a deal. The Celtics are also interested in Gordon’s teammate, shipowner Evan Fournier, but would probably need to purchase it in a separate exchange if they did.
By source: Celtics speaks to Orlando re: Aaron Gordon “still alive, but everyone does everything at the last minute.” The Celtics offer the choice of the first round and a young player – not Marcus Smart – and are trying not to include the second choice in the deal.

Will Spurs split up with Aldridge or buy him?
It has been almost a month since LaMarcus Aldridge played last, the result of him and the San Antonio Spurs mutually agreeing to find a new home for him. The negotiation deadline is here and Aldridge is still technically a Spur, but his robust remaining contract ($ 24 million) may make him more of a post-negotiation buyout candidate than a negotiated player, writes Jeff McDonald of San Antonio Express-News. If Spurs can trade Aldridge, McDonald reports that any return they get for him would be a relief. It is also worth noting: Spurs have not closed deals with a deadline for negotiation since 2014.
“I am very happy with the squad we have. … I’m happy to go to fight with these guys. “
No matter what happens on Thursday’s trading deadline, LaMarcus Aldridge will be gone and the Spurs’ list will look the same as Wednesday. https://t.co/g9n0Z4gyZa via @mysa

Wolves are reluctant to part with McDaniels
From the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns due to COVID-19 to a variety of injuries and other problems, the 2020-21 season for the Minnesota Timberwolves was forgettable. Newcomer Jaden McDaniels has been a bright spot in his stats (5.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg at 20.1 mpg) for his overall talent level. Chris Hine’s Star Tribune reports that Minnesota kicked the tires in the negotiations for Aaron Gordon and John Collins. However, Minnesota is not willing to part with McDaniels in potential deals, which could be hampering its ability to close a deal.

Report: Mavs may not be running for Gordon
Yesterday, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said he doubted Dallas would make a substantial change and, on Wednesday, basketball operations president Donnie Nelson added that. “I think that in order to change where we are now, we need to ask the question, ‘Is this an exaggerated move?'” Said Nelson, according to Brad Townsend, Dallas Morning News. “If so, then you always have these conversations.”
According to the newspaper, Dallas appears to be out of contention for Orlando Magic striker Aaron Gordon. The Mavs are also linked to the Atlanta Hawks big shot, John Collins, but he is not at the forefront of these negotiations, the newspaper reported.

Fournier reflects on his journey as the deadline approaches
In the summer of 2014, Orlando Magic sent veteran Arron Afflalo to the Denver Nuggets for young Evan Fournier. Advance seven seasons and Fournier has many memories about playing for Magic while hearing his name spread in exchange rumors. Fournier nailed it last night’s 112-111 victory against the Phoenix Suns and, after the game, looked back on his journey.
“I left my home (in France) where I lived with my parents when I was 13 and since then I have never been in a place for more than two years, so the fact that I have been here for seven years says a lot,” said Fournier, who hit four 3 points against Phoenix. “I had a son here, I got married and that means more than a lot. … If it’s the end, it’s the end, but obviously I love the franchise. “
It is important to remember that the NBA negotiation deadline takes an emotional toll on the people involved. Evan Fournier was invited by @TheAthleticNBA what the city of Orlando and magic has meant to him in the past seven years, and his responses have been introspective and exciting. pic.twitter.com/ztZbgikPM0
