David Andrews will remain in the middle for the New England Patriots.
The 28-year-old center agreed to re-sign with New England after testing the free agency, as first reported on Thursday night by Kim Jones of the NFL Network.
It’s a four-year contract for the team captain four times, sources said ESPN Field Yachts.
Andrews has started 78 games between his regular and post-season seasons with New England since arriving as an uncapped Georgia rookie in 2015. Twice a Super Bowl champion, Andrews recently completed a three-year extension and $ 9 million and highlights as a member of the franchise’s All-Decade list alongside Nate Solder, Joe Thuney, Logan Mankins and Sebastian Vollmer.
Left out throughout 2019 due to blood clots in the lungs, Andrews started 12 competitions and played 72 percent of offensive strokes for the 7-9 Patriots. He spent three weeks on reserve due to surgery to repair the broken thumb in his hand, and was discarded before the end of the season due to a calf injury.
New England agreed to a one-year contract with fellow center-back Ted Karras in the hours leading up to the league’s new year at 4 pm ET on Wednesday.
Karras, a player in the sixth round of the 2016 Patriots of Illinois, played all games during his single year with the Miami Dolphins after starting 15 games in Andrews’ absence.
