2021 Ford F-150 Raptor provoked, debut next week

Ford released the first teaser image of the 2021 F-150 Raptor, before its February 3 debut at 11 am EST.

Although the image is not very revealing, it shows that the redesigned truck will have an evolutionary grid with prominent “FORD” letters.

We can also see a familiar mesh pattern, as well as wider grid-mounted lights. Additional details are hard to distinguish, but there is a contrasting black bumper and what appear to be decals on the hood.

Ford is keeping it light in detail, but previous spy photos showed a sturdy front plate and recovery hooks. The off-road advantages do not end there, as the model will have pronounced bumper flares and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A tires.

The big news is the truck suspension, which exchanges rear leaf springs for more modern coils. This should result in a more comfortable ride and the change has also allowed engineers to add a new structural strap that connects to the rear axle.

Speaking of changes at the bottom of the body, the exhaust has been redirected and now has a straighter exit. Most importantly, it features higher mounting points for improved clearance.

We haven’t seen the interior of the Raptor yet, but the model will benefit from updates applied to the standard F-150. As a result, the truck must have a 12-inch digital instrument panel, a 12-inch SYNC 4 infotainment system and high-quality materials.

The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is expected to be shipped with some modifications to improve performance. There is no word on the numbers at this point, but the engine currently develops 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) of torque.

It could eventually be accompanied by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine from the Mustang Shelby GT500. Rumors suggest that it will be used in an F-150 Raptor R and will produce more than 700 hp (522 kW / 710 PS).

The Raptor R is programmed to fight the Ram 1500 TRX, which has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine with 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. It allows the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km / h) in just 4.5 seconds.
