Duke started what he hopes will be a miraculous run at the ACC Tournament on Tuesday, playing one of the best basketball games of the season just three days after being defeated by North Carolina to close the regular season. This defeat relegated the Blue Devils to play in the first round as number 10 in the conference tournament, and they handled the task with ease by attacking Boston College number 86-51.
The win sends Duke to face the No. 7 seed Louisville in Wednesday’s second round. The Blue Devils (12-11) may need to win the ACC Tournament to avoid losing the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1995 and to do so, they will need to win five games in five days. It will be a difficult task for a team that has not won five consecutive games in the entire season, but Tuesday’s victory was a good start, as the Blue Devils scored 15 of 32 points out of 3 and forced 20 Eagles spins.

The Duke-Boston College game was the second of three games on the first day of the ACC Tournament. The first was much more competitive, as 13th place Miami overcame 12th place Pittsburgh by 79-73, advancing to face 5th place Clemson on Wednesday. However, the last of the three games was the most exciting of the day.
Notre Dame’s chances of going to the NCAA Tournament are virtually non-existent, but Trey Wertz gave Fighting Irish number 11 a moment to remember this postseason, when he hit a 3-point buzzer to guarantee a victory by 80 -77 over No. 14 Wake Forest seeds on the first day of the ACC Tournament. Notre Dame closed the game with 17-2 to advance to the game against North Carolina on Tuesday.
