2020 East Carolina at South Carolina football game rescheduled for 2027

The East Carolina Pirates and South Carolina Gamecocks have agreed to reschedule their postponed football game in 2020 to the 2027 season, FBSchedules.com learned.

South Carolina was scheduled to host East Carolina at the Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC on Saturday, September 12, 2020, but the game was postponed due to the new 2019 coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

South Carolina will now host East Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, September 4, 2027, according to a copy of an original contract amendment obtained from East Carolina University through an application for state public records.

The rescheduled game is part of a series of five games that the two schools agreed to play in 2014. The Gamecocks defeated the Pirates in the first two games in the series, 33-23 in 2014 and 20-15 in 2016, both in Columbia.

East Carolina was due to host South Carolina in Greenville, NC in 2019, but the Gamecocks canceled the competition. The solitary game in Greenville is still scheduled for Saturday, September 11, 2021.

East Carolina and South Carolina met for the first time on the football field in 1977 and played a total of 19 matches. Gamecocks have won four consecutive games in the series and now lead 14-5.
