2005 Star Wars Battlefront 2 first patch in three years pulled after breaking the game • Eurogamer.net

The first patch in three years for the 2005 Star Wars Battlefront 2 was dropped after it broke the game.

A surprise hotfix update was released on February 9 for the much-loved multiplayer shooter from Pandemic Studios, which addressed a number of issues with graphics resolution and in-game control support.

Although the update was initially received positively – an update to a 15-year-old game is fantastic support, after all – it didn’t take long for players to realize that it broke the game in several major areas.

Players reported crash problems, field of view problems, resolution problems, user interface objects and text size problems and, worst of all, popular mods within the community were no longer usable.

A GOG representative told Eurogamer that the update was provided by the game’s publisher, Lucasfilm Games (this is the new brand for Lucasfilm’s renewed video game effort), and removed it from its platform “after reviewing user feedback and consulting with our partner “.

And now, a new update on Steam reveals a similar movement on the Valve platform: “Rolling back to the previous version.”

It’s a shame that the patch didn’t work for Star Wars Battlefront 2 players, but assuming that Lucasfilm Games can fix it, it suggests continued support for the veteran sniper.
