20-year-old among 7 recently reported COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 870 new cases of COVID-19 and seven more deaths on Tuesday. The state has seen 507,231 cases of COVID-19 and 6,789 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The recently reported deaths include a person in their 20s in Anoka County. In all, only 10 of the 6,789 COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota were people in their 20s.

The other deaths reported on Tuesday ranged from 50-84 years old. None of the recently reported deaths were residents of long-term care facilities.

The 870 cases reported recently were 13,314 tests – a positivity rate of 6.5%. The 7-day average positivity rate is about 4.5%. Anything around 5% is a concern for MDH.

Meanwhile, the MDH reported that 1,437,931 Minnesota residents received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 854,827 are fully vaccinated, according to the latest data from the state’s health department. About 79% of people aged 65 and over received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Minnesota residents are encouraged to apply to the state’s Vaccine Connector website to be notified when they become eligible for a vaccine.
