2 waves of snow to hit on Tuesday

DETROITONE winter weather warning is in effect for Detroit and all of southeastern Michigan from midnight on Sunday to noon on Tuesday.

A flood alert is also in effect along the St. Clair River.

The storm that is bringing snow and ice to southern Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi will become a major snowstorm to southern Michigan on Monday. Two waves of snow will arrive, with lighter snow on Sunday and stronger snow on Monday. Prepare your shovels and snow cleaners.

Sunday night will be cloudy and very cold. Temperatures will be between 20 and 30 years. Scattered gusts are possible before midnight.

There are two turns of snow arriving in Detroit and southeastern Michigan, starting Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

The first round comes after midnight on Sunday. The overnight lows will be in the upper single digit as light snow showers cross the region. Much of the snow will have subsided on Monday morning, with 1 to 3 inches possible mid-morning.

Monday afternoon will be cloudy and very cold. The highs will be in the middle of the century.

The second round of snow will affect the region in the late afternoon Monday through Tuesday morning. The snow will be more widespread and intense. Late Tuesday morning, an additional 3 to 7 inches of snow accumulation it’s possible.

A large total of 6 to 9 or 10 inches of snow it’s possible. The largest amounts of snow (7 to 10 inches) will be most likely in areas close to the Great Lakes and the Detroit River and the St. Clair River (from Port Huron to Mt. Clemens, Monroe and Luna Pier). The smaller snow accumulation, which will still be significant (5 to 8 inches), will occur in neighborhoods farther north and west of Detroit (Livingston County via Flint, Lapeer and Sandusky).

Tuesday will be very cold with mid-afternoon afternoon temperatures.

Wednesday will be partly sunny and cold. Daytime temperatures will be around 20 degrees.

There is a chance of snow showers on Thursday. The maximums will be close to 30 degrees.

Friday and Saturday will have a mixture of clouds and sun. The maxims will be in the mid-1920s.
