The two people found dead in a motel room in Florence, South Carolina on Friday were linked to more than 20 armed robberies in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, according to the County Sheriff’s Office from Florence.
Florence and US Marshals deputies received a complaint that the two suspects – Like the Evelyn chauntress, Westerville, Ohio and Donovan McMillan, of Hartsville, South Carolina – We were staying at the Suburban Extended Stay Motel on West Lucas Street in Florence, SC on Friday.
When police knocked on the motel room door to carry out the search warrant, they heard two shots from inside the room where Like and McMillan were located, according to the sheriff’s office.
After the police tried to make contact with the suspects, the SWAT team was called in to break into the motel room, where they found McMillan, 25, and Like, 21, dead.
The police never fired their weapons during the incident, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, Like and McMillian were wanted for three armed robberies in Florence County, including:
- Pharmacy CVS on Second Loop Road on November 6, 2020
- Food Lion Supermarket on West Palmetto Street January 23, 2021
- Aldi is on South Irby Street. on February 5, 2021
“Investigators believe the two were responsible for up to 22 other armed robberies in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia,” Florence County Sheriff’s Office officials said in a press release on Monday .
Authorities have yet to say which specific assaults the suspects are accused of.
Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate the incident and process the scene.
The coroner scheduled autopsies on both suspects.
