2 COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination sites open on Sunday in Broward County

DAVIE, Fla. – Elderly citizens of Broward County age 65 and older who were lucky enough to make an appointment started lining up on Sunday morning to receive their COVID-19 vaccines.

Two drive-thru locations have been opened where, from what Local 10 has learned, you drive, lower the window, extend your arm to make the injection and make an appointment for the second dose in three weeks.

Scroll through the locations that open on Sunday, only by appointment, include:

>Tradewinds Park, 3600 West Sample Road, Coconut Creek. 8 am to 4 pm Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

>Vista View Park, Southwest 142nd Avenue, Davie. 8 am to 4 pm, Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

On Tuesday, drive-thru vaccinations will start at:

>Markham Park, 160001 West State Road 84, Sunrise. 8 am to 4 pm Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

People are being warned not to attend the venues unless they have an appointment. Those without an appointment on Sunday morning were rejected.

It has been a struggle for the elderly to secure a spot, despite the fact that tens of thousands of vaccines arrive in South Florida.

On Sunday morning, the Florida Department of Health website in Broward County to make an appointment finally went back to work after being inactive for several days, but at 9:30 am he was offline again with a message that said, “We sincerely apologize. This site has been taken down for maintenance to better serve you. Thanks.”

The health department issued a statement last week that said, in part: “When the site is fixed, if you find that consultations are not available, always come back, as we are increasing the number of vaccination sites for older people in County Broward in the coming weeks. “

Vaccines will be available at no charge, but you must make an appointment to attend any of the new drive-thru locations.
