In the same week that a Maryland couple won a $ 730 million Powerball jackpot, Americans have a chance to win $ 1 billion in a Mega Millions prize pool.
A Friday jackpot winner, if he or she chooses the cash option, will receive $ 739.6 million – before taxes.
In 2020, overall, there were five Mega Millions winners, according to game officials.

Friday’s draw marks only the third time that a lottery prize has reached the $ 1 billion mark.
