From 1992 Sensible Soccer It is one of best video games of all time, but Sensible Software developers did not create their classic in a vacuum. They had to work to get there, developing the years 1988 Microprose Soccer first.

In almost every way, the direct precursor to Sensible, Microprose—Launched in the USA as Keith Van Eron’s professional football– had the same top-down action and arcade sensitivities that Sensible, but instead of appearing on Amiga and PC and exploding in the early 90s, it was released on the Commodore 64 and PC in the late 80s and … it was also a success, but not the cultural strength what Sensible was.

Strangely enough, despite the Microprose brand having come back from the dead, this is being published by Zigurate, probably because the new Microprose is only interested in military games. That is going for change on steam.
