Yellowstone co-creator / executive producer Taylor Sheridan signed a massive new general agreement with ViacomCBS and the MTV Entertainment Group for several new series, starting with Yellowstone prequela Y: 1883 for Paramount +, which will be revealed with a teaser on Sunday during the Super Bowl on CBS. According to sources, the pact, which is expected to last five years, is in the nine-digit range and could reach $ 150 million successfully. That would put Sheridan at the top of the highest-paid producers on TV.
Under the pact, Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Sheridan will create exclusive multiplatform content with MTV Entertainment Studios and its Yellowstone partner 101 Studios, delivering five seasons of new or recurring series every year exclusively to ViacomCBS brands, including YellowstoneParamount, Paramount + and CBS initial network.

With debut scheduled for later this year, Y: 1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west across the Great Plains towards the last bastion of untamed America. It is a complete reinterpretation of western expansion and an intense study of a family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land: Montana.

The pact replaces Sherdon’s previous general agreement with MTV Entertainment Group, signed a year ago. The continued success of Yellowstone, the most watched drama on cable TV.
The third season of the Paramount Network program was the premiere of the most-watched cable season in two years, reaching a record 6.5 million viewers on Live + 3. The series starring Kevin Costner, co-created by Sheridan and John Linson, also developed passionate fans and social media presence.
