15-year-old arrested for deadly Phoenix shooting

PHOENIX – Phoenix police say a 15-year-old was arrested for a deadly shooting in July 2020.

According to the police, the incident happened around 11:45 pm, close to avenues 19 and south. When the police arrived at the scene, they found Carlos Garcia, 19, shot and killed.

During the investigation, the police said they had gathered enough information through forensic evidence and witness statements to arrest 15-year-old Kevontay Myers.

Police believe Garcia was not the intended target in the shooting. It is not clear whether there was any reason for the shooting.

Myers is being accused as an adult and faces potential charges of first-degree murder, shooting and gun misconduct.
