Do you know Goose CreekThe Charleston side neighbor, just 30 min. up 1-26 W – but DYK which is one of fastest growing cities in SC?

The growth of Goose Creek is fueled by a flourishing development scenario + redevelopment: The municipal government played a major role in attracting new brewery that will open in the next quarter (the first in the city), and is close to launching its Comprehensive 10-year plan, which will help to further shape Goose Creek. Adding to the big growth is a narrow mesh Southern community, full of place dining and shopping.

With some professional tips from residents, we created a day trip guide to Goose Creek what to see, eat + do – so all you have to do is get in the car and go. 🚗

Morning:

Go to one of Goose Creek’s local breakfast spots, like Ra Coffee Company, a cafeteria with indoor + outdoor tables, plus a double drive-thru window (Tip: try the mochaccino) If you need something to eat, stop Juice Shop Smoothie Bar + Café or Donut Connection, or grab a drink at the Italian espresso bar Cuppa Maná.

After you are fueled, take a walk in Marrington Plantation, a 1,600-acre forest area with a variety of activities located at the Joint Base Charleston Weapons Station, or hitting a few balls in Crowfield Golf Club (which also has a pub & grill for a late lunch on the patio).

Evening:

Do your shopping in at one of Goose Creek’s local retailers, such as Beautifully simple soap for homemade herb baths, beard balm and, it is clear, soaps made by the veteran owner of the store. Then, grab a new book at Bookstore Turning Page.

Then, treat yourself to a treat from the new location Mama’s Bakery (coming soon) – or if you’re in the mood for something adventurous – try a Thai ice cream at Thai QQ ice cream and crepes.

Evening:

Before ending the day, sit down to dine at one of Goose Creek’s local restaurants. Have a relaxed mood in the sports bar Two Keys Tavern, or enjoy a delicacy of local origin in Momo kitchen and market. (Blueberry basil salad, grilled sirloin and dry aged and truffle fries? Say less. 🤤)

Bonus: If you are planning to visit later in the year, check out the brewery we mentioned earlier – The Creek City Grill & Brewery – under construction now and opening in a old fire department in the second quarter of 2021. Wide Awake Brewing Company – a summerville-based brewery that is moving to this new location – will be the in-house brewers at the grill + bar.
