12 CVS pharmacies in CT to distribute coronavirus vaccine

CONNECTICUT – CVS will soon begin administering COVID-19 vaccines to eligible populations on Thursday, February 11, at CVS pharmacies in Connecticut. In total, 12 pharmacies will distribute the vaccine, according to a company press release.

The appointments will be available for booking as early as Monday, February 9, as stores receive shipments of the vaccine, according to a CVS press release.

The supply for limited implantation in the state, which is linked to the federal pharmaceutical partnership program, will be approximately 6,800 total doses.

Not all 12 pharmacy locations have been identified by the company. But CVS has listed nine communities that will participate:

  • Avon
  • Bristol
  • Coventry
  • Glastonbury
  • Guilford
  • Hamden
  • Middletown
  • North Haven
  • Uncasville

As more supplies become available, the company expands to more locations and offers additional scheduling.

“One of our greatest strengths as a company is our presence in communities across the country, which makes us an ideal partner to administer vaccines in a safe, convenient and family-friendly manner,” said Karen S. Lynch, president and CEO, CVS Health .

“We continue to be grateful for the commitment of our colleagues at the front, whose dedication allowed us to provide care and peace of mind during the pandemic.”

Vaccines at participating CVS pharmacies in Connecticut will be available to individuals who meet the state’s criteria, which will be confirmed by the state prior to implementation.

Patients must register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app, and people without online access can contact CVS customer service at 800-746-7287.

The availability of COVID-19 vaccines in Connecticut is part of an initial deployment in 11 states and includes approximately 335 CVS pharmacy locations in California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

The vaccines will eventually be available at CVS pharmacies across the country, depending on the availability of the product, with the capacity to administer 20 to 25 million injections per month.

In addition to making COVID-19 vaccines available at local pharmacies, CVS Health says it continues to make progress in its efforts to vaccinate residents and employees at more than 570 long-term care facilities in Connecticut.

As made clear by regularly updated data that CVS Health makes publicly available, the first doses at all facilities in the state that selected CVS Health to supply the COVID-19 vaccinations will be completed in mid-February with the second doses already underway, according to the statement.
