110 new deaths reported in Orange County January 18-19 – Orange County Register

The Orange County Health Agency reported 3,995 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, January 19, increasing the county’s cumulative total to 214,808 cases since the screening began. The update includes case counts for Monday and Tuesday, as there was no post on Martin Luther King Jr’s holiday .:

Monday: 1,681 cases; 46 deaths; 14,853 tests given

Tuesday: 2,314 cases; 64 deaths; 12,430 tests given

There were 110 deaths reported by the county on Tuesday, bringing the total number of reported deaths to 2,477.

Data on deaths in the county are compiled from death certificates or collected during case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent recorded death was on January 10.

The county also reported 2,007 patients in local hospitals with the coronavirus on Tuesday.

There were 523 patients listed in intensive care units on Tuesday.

It is estimated that 39,776 cases of the virus have been reported in Orange County in the past 14 days.

The county update said 2,457,987 tests for coronavirus have been performed since the tests started locally, with at least 27,283 new tests since the previous report.

Of the 2,470 cumulative deaths reported by the virus, 765 were qualified nursing facility residents, 275 were in assisted living facilities, one OC inmate and four were listed as homeless.

The breakdown of deaths by age in the county is as follows:

  • 85 and older: 34.52% (855)
  • 75-84: 22.69% (562)
  • 65-74: 19.1% (473)
  • 55-64: 13.24% (328)
  • 45-54: 7.02% (174)
  • 35-44: 2.06% (51)
  • 25-34: 1.13% (28)
  • 18-24: 0.2% (5)
  • 17 and younger: 0.04% (1)

It is estimated that about 143,618 people have recovered from the virus by Tuesday. The count of people who recovered is based on the cumulative case count from the previous 28 days.

The data published each day is preliminary and is subject to change, emphasize the employees. More information can be made available as investigations of individual cases are completed.

As ICU capacity decreases in Southern California, the percentages on this graph have been adjusted by state public health officials to represent the high levels of COVID-19 patients among all ICU patients. More real beds may be available.

Vaccines administered from January 17

The California Department of Public Health website shows a total of 3,226,775 doses of vaccine, which includes the first and second doses, were sent to local health departments and health systems as of January 17.

The totals of vaccines administered in six different regions are shown on the maps below. On January 17, a total of 1,393,224 doses of vaccine were administered across the state. That is 609,748 compared to the January 11 report. The state warns that the numbers do not represent the real change from day to day, as reports can be delayed.
