Eleven Sixers appeared in the NBA injury report published Friday night at 8:30 pm
Listed as out of the game scheduled for Saturday against the Nuggets for reasons unrelated to COVID-19 are Furkan Korkmaz (left adductor strain), Mike Scott (left knee injury) and Terrance Ferguson (personal reasons).
What is more significant is that seven players are listed as questionable because of the health and safety protocols. A source told NBC Sports Philadelphia shortly after the injury report was released that the team was awaiting the results of the COVID-19 test and contact tracking.
Questionable players are:
- Joel Embiid
- Danny Green
- Tobias Harris
- Shake Milton
- Vincent Poirier
- Paul Reed
- Matisse Thybulle
Seth Curry is listed as out because of health and safety protocols. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that the Sixers learned of the positive Curry test for COVID-19 during their defeat to the Nets. Curry was seen in the broadcast of TNT wearing a mask during the first trimester.
Just before midnight on Friday, Wojnarowski reported that players placed on health and safety protocols had been in “close recent contact” with Curry, and that the Sixers “await the league’s assessment of the circumstances surrounding the cases of these seven players. ” NBA teams must have at least eight players available to play.
The Sixers sailed back to Philadelphia on Friday night, ESPN reported.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that a member of the Sixers training team tested positive for COVID-19, leading to additional contact tracking within the team.
