COLUMBUS, Ohio – Another 100 people died of the coronavirus, the Ohio Department of Health reported on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 9,802.
This is above the 21-day moving average of 74 deaths per day.
Also above the 21-day average are the new cases reported, which reached 7,981 on Monday. The average is 7,424. The total pandemic case count in Ohio is 792,928.4,
The state follows the “case” definition of the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which includes those diagnosed through genetic PCR or antigen tests, or people diagnosed in a clinical setting – showing symptoms that are linked to a COVID case -19 confirmed, among other criteria.
The state reported 17,421 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine that were distributed between 6 am on Monday and 6 am on Tuesday. A total of 321,506 doses were distributed in Ohio. This represents 2.75% of the state’s population.
The record day of vaccines reported was Friday, with 29,028 administered.
Other data from Tuesday’s Department of Health report:
-39,493 PCR and molecular coronavirus tests were reported as administered between Monday and Tuesday, bringing the total of coronavirus tests to more than 8.2 million.
-The percentage of molecular tests and PCR that tested positive was 13.2% on Sunday, the most recent day for a positive rate. The seven-day average starting on Sunday is 13%.
-4,010 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ohio on Tuesday, 46 fewer than on Tuesday.
