10 of Armando Manzanero’s eternal songs

Here are 10 favorites:

“We are Novios”
Manzanero wrote the sweetly innocent “Somos Novios” (We are boyfriend and girlfriend, because we both feel mutual and deep love) in 1968. The purity of the letters connected on a global scale. While the English adaptation of the song – “It’s Impossible” by Sid Wayne – changed the lyrics (It’s impossible, tell the sun to leave the sky, it’s just impossible), the notion of lasting love remained. When Perry Como recorded “It’s Impossible”, it became his first song to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in over 12 years. “It’s Impossible” received a 1971 Grammy nomination for song of the year, while Como’s album of the same name was nominated for best male pop vocal performance. “It’s Impossible” was also recorded by Elvis Presley, Andy Williams, Shriley Bassey and Andre Bocelli, among many others. In Spanish, “Somos Novios” remains one of the most played Spanish songs of all time.

“Voy a Apagar la Luz” (I will turn off the lights)
