10 new coronavirus cases, no new virus-related deaths confirmed in Aiken County | News

South Carolina health officials on Saturday announced 752 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 11 new virus-related deaths in the state.

Of the hundreds of new cases, 10 were from Aiken County. None of the deaths reported on Saturday were in Aiken, Edgefield or Barnwell counties.

Saturday’s additions bring the statewide cumulative count to 462,954 confirmed cases and 8,042 deaths.

More than 6 million coronavirus tests have been carried out in the state of Palmetto since the start of the pandemic.

Beginning on Wednesday, March 31, South Carolina residents aged 16 and over will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine – a vast increase in qualifications.

“Thanks to the enormous efforts of health professionals in our state,” tweeted Governor Henry McMaster, “we can now make the vaccine available to anyone who wants it.”

Aiken Regional Medical Centers will host a vaccination clinic at USC Aiken on Wednesday.

Appointments to regional Aiken clinics should be scheduled through the Vaccine Administration Management System at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or VAMS. Scheduling availability is based on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration instructions for VAMS can be found online at aikenregional.com by clicking on the “Read Now” button at the top of the page and then scrolling down and clicking on the “Fill in the vaccine application form” button.

For those already registered with VAMS, the schedules can be found on the system’s website.
