10 great games to play on your new 2020 VR headset

If you received a headset for virtual reality games this holiday, congratulations! Whether you have the newly released Oculus Quest 2, one of the latest units in the now discontinued Oculus Rift S, or another headset like the PlayStation VR, there are a ton of video games to explore with its new display headrest. Here are ten games that I personally like and think are worth your time and money.

We’ve put together our favorite and most used games, apps and entertainment. Check out our app choices for iPhones, Android Phones, Windows PCs, and Macs equipped with M1; our favorite mobile games from Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass; and our best choices for Gaming PCs, a PS5, Xbox One and X / S Series, Nintendo Switch, and VR. We also list our favorite streaming programs on the Disney Plus, Hulu, ESPN Plus, and Netflix; some great science fiction books; and exciting new podcasts. Yes it is not half-life 3. But the fact that Half-life: Alyx still exists is really a blessing and is a great addition to the Half life franchise. Located five years after the events of Half-life 2, you control Alyx, who has the task of picking up a super weapon that belongs to an alien empire.

When I was a little girl, I always wanted to fly an X-Wing. I thought it was so cool to fly through space and blow Tie Fighters out of the sky. So when EA announced that Star Wars: Squadrons I would have virtual reality support, I knew I could finally fulfill my childhood dream.

It is a very difficult game and you do not need a virtual reality headset to play. But it is also a very rewarding game that totally involved me when I put on a virtual reality headset.

Real Fishing VR

When I was growing up on the east coast of Maryland, fishing was (and is) a very popular activity in the summer. There’s something great about launching your line with a cold drink in your hand while you’re in the water, and the challenge and patience needed to roll a fish. Now that it’s winter, I needed something to fill the void until the hottest season came back, and Real Fishing VR does not disappoint.

Void Racer: Extreme

Void Racer: Extreme is a sci-fi racing game that gives me the same adrenaline rush that I get from games like Destroy or Sprint Vector and combine that with a film-like aesthetic Tron. If you’re looking for a fast-paced racing game and love sci-fi vibes, this is the game for you.

Dreams

Sure, there are no real PS5 games released yet, but PlayStation VR still has a solid library of PS4 titles that you can check out, including Media Molecule’s 2020 game creation title Dreams. It is not a video game in the traditional sense – it is more about creating games. Dreams strongly encourages players to embrace their creative side, and you would be surprised at the type of user-generated content you can create.

Rez Infinite

Rez Infinite is a shooting game with the latest technology with sublime and trippy graphics that are a truly breathtaking experience. It is released on virtually all virtual reality gaming headsets, making it very affordable to play.

Beat Saber

although Beat Saber was originally released in 2019, this is still one of the best VR games out there, and one that every VR headset owner needs to try. A rhythm game in which you use lightsaber-like drumsticks to cut out musical beats? You cannot win this. The game has also expanded to a number of content packs, which include original songs and some licensed songs from bands like Linkin Park and BTS.

VR Shoot Around

Among the many things I missed this year because of the pandemic are sports. That is, the ability to go to a basketball court and do some hoops. After a few questions, I heard about a really decent VR simulation title called VR Shoot Around, And it did not disappoint. Oh, and did I mention that this game only costs $ 5?

Trover saves the universe

Like some games on this list, Trover saves the universe was not released in 2020 (although it was released this year for the Oculus Quest). Developed by Squanch Games, this game is one of the most goofy titles available on virtual reality headsets. And if you’re a fan of Rick and Morty, you’re sure to have fun with this game – in fact, it was created by Justin Roiland, one of the co-creators of this series.

Like its predecessor, Pixel Ripped 1995 is a kind of love letter for the past decade: the 90s. It is a sequel to Pixel Ripped 1989 and will make anyone who grew up during the age of 16 or 32 bit gaming feel nostalgic.
