1 of 2 people wanted after shooting with police near Spring taken into custody

SPRING, Texas – One of the two people wanted on Wednesday after a police officer shot near Spring was taken into custody.

The search started around 1:40 pm in the Interstate 45 and Rayford Road area.

Sgt. Erik Burse, of the Texas Department of Public Security, said a policeman stopped a white Chevrolet pickup with 28-year-old Tyler Goodson and 29-year-old Rebecca Orange inside. He said that both people refused to identify themselves to the officer, so the officer asked a deputy from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to come to the scene and help identify them.

Burse said that while identification was being performed, Goodson jumped back into the truck and started driving while Orange was running away on foot. He said that while Goodson was leaving, he tried to run over the policeman and authorities fired on the vehicle.

The pickup was later found abandoned, Burse said.

Orange was later found and taken into custody, officials said. Several law enforcement agencies are still looking for Goodson.
