1 new COVID-19-related death in Brazos County, hospitalizations remain high

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Brazos County Sanitary District reported 106 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Brazos County. Currently, there are 1,858 active cases.

1 new death has been reported in the past 24 hours. There were 152 deaths in the municipality of Brazos related to COVID-19.

12,079 patients are classified as recovered, which means they have had no fever for 72 hours, no medication to lower the fever, and 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms.

25 percent of new confirmed cases are in the 18 to 24 age group.

There have been 2,771 probable cases in Brazos County since June 18, 2020. A probable case of COVID-19 is determined by a positive antigen test. Confirmed COVID-19 cases are determined by a positive PCR test. The health district conducts case investigations in all confirmed and probable cases.

There are currently 375 probable cases active and 2,397 probable cases recovered.

The total number of confirmed positive cases in the county since testing began is 14,089. 143,456 tests were carried out.

The total occupancy of hospital beds in Brazos County is 83%, and the total occupancy of beds in the ICU is 131%.

Currently, there are 65 residents in the municipality of Brazos hospitalized for COVID-19.

State Trauma Service Area N

Most of the Brazos Valley falls under the N state trauma service area (Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington counties). Trauma service area N currently reports 609 hospital beds with 85 beds available. According to the most recent data from the state, the region has 0 ICU beds available and 58 fans available. The latest state update listed 155 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients currently in the hospital.

Texas A&M University

The Texas A&M COVID-19 Dashboard reported 374 active cases on January 13.

Currently, the university reported 4,890 positive cases, 7.2 percent of the tests were positive.

The last update of the panel was provided on January 13, 2021.

Across the state, Texas has an estimated 378,877 active cases and 1,666,745 recoveries. There were 2,097,560 cases reported in total and 17,906,336 tests in total (viral and antibody).

To date, 31,831 Texans have died from COVID-19.

Currently, 1,038,890 Texans have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 161,865 Texans have been fully vaccinated. Across Texas, 1,717,825 doses were shipped.

254 out of 254 counties in the state of Texas are currently reporting cases. Harris County leads the state in total cases, with 278,312 cases reported.
