A 32-year-old man is dead after a fight broke out in a prison in Midlands, South Carolina on Wednesday.
Jamin Anderson was serving a 15-year sentence for first-degree theft, kidnapping, armed robbery, high and aggravated assault and beatings, criminal conspiracy and firearms supply, said Chrysti Shain, a spokesman for the Penitentiary Department. of SC.
Anderson was injured in a fight on Wednesday afternoon with other people incarcerated in Bishopville prison, Shain said.
The state prison investigations and intelligence office and the state law enforcement division are investigating what happened, she said. Anderson’s autopsy is pending at the Lee County Coroner’s Office.
