Americans are definitely not united in it is question.
Only one in five Americans is “very confident” in President Biden’s ability to meet his goal of unifying the country, according to a new poll released on Sunday.
While 22 percent said Biden would unify the country, 24 percent remained highly skeptical, saying they have no confidence “at all” that he will be able to do that, the ABC News / Ipsos poll concluded.
Thirty-five percent said they had “a good deal” of confidence that Biden could bring the country together and 19 percent said they had “not so much” confidence.
Respondents were asked about their opinion after watching a video of Biden’s inaugural speech urging Americans to see themselves “not as opponents, but as neighbors”.
“We can treat each other with dignity and respect. We can join forces, stop the shouting and lower the temperature. For without unity there is no peace – only bitterness and fury. No progress – just exhausting outrage. No nation – just a state of chaos, ”said Biden.
At the same time, 71 percent of those who attended all or part of Biden’s inaugural speech said his message was “very” or “somewhat” convincing.
Another 29 percent who watched it found it “not so convincing” or “not at all convincing”.
The survey surveyed a random sample of 504 adults across the country between January 22 and 23.
It has a margin of error of plus / minus 5.0 percentage points.
