INDIANÁPOLIS (DESIRE) – One man is dead and three others went to hospitals after a New Year’s Eve shooting outside a nightclub on the northeast side of the city, police said.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to see a person shot shortly before 10 pm Thursday at Epic Ultra Lounge, 8215 Center Run Road. It is close to East 82nd Street between I-69 and I-465, and close to Castleton Square shopping.
The man died on the spot, an IMPD spokesman told News 8. Three other people were taken by private vehicle to a nearby hospital, where two were in critical condition and were transferred to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, in the center of Indianapolis.
The shootings took place at the entrance to the club or in the parking lot, said the IMPD spokesman. About an hour before midnight, investigators marked several shell casings around the clubs.
After the shots were fired, many people fled the area, the spokesman said. However, he asked anyone with information to call the IMPD.
The police did not immediately know what led to the shooting.
No information about a suspect was immediately available.
