πŸŽ₯ Saline County update for COVID-19 vaccinations

The following is Thursday’s update of the COVID-19 vaccine from the Saline County Health Department.

In our ongoing efforts to improve efficiency in scheduling the COVID-19 vaccine, those who provided an email address at the time of registration will receive an email notification when it is time to schedule their appointment.

Failure to provide an e-mail address does not affect your listing or the length of time you receive a call to schedule your appointment.

When an appointment is available to you, you will receive an email from Salina Family Healthcare Center with a unique link to schedule your appointment. Please, add [emailΒ protected] to your safe list to prevent the email from going to your SPAM or Junk folder.

Scheduling through this link will only be available for a limited period. In order not to miss this opportunity, please do not delay in scheduling this consultation. Sharing your link will impair your ability to schedule an appointment.

We are aware of the governor’s announcement about the K-12 vaccination program; however, we have not received any additional information at this time.

More than 6,500 people living or working in Saline County have been vaccinated against COVID-19. This marks another important milestone in our community, as more people were vaccinated than tested positive for the virus.

The KDHE updated its quarantine guidelines after vaccination.

Vaccinated persons with exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to be quarantined if they meet all of the following criteria:

● They are fully vaccinated (ie β‰₯2 weeks after receiving the second dose in a series of 2 doses, or β‰₯2 weeks after receiving a dose of a single dose vaccine)

● Within 3 months of receiving the last dose in the series

● Remain asymptomatic since the current exposure to COVID-19

Persons who do not meet all 3 of the above criteria must continue to follow the current quarantine guidelines after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.

As an exception to the above guidance, vaccinated inpatients and residents in healthcare settings should continue to quarantine after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19; Outpatients should be treated with appropriate transmission precautions. This exception is due to the unknown efficacy of the vaccine in this population, the greater risk of serious diseases and death and the challenges of social distance in health settings.

If you believe that you are an eligible member of a Phase 2 population and have not yet registered, do so immediately.

If you have already registered, do not register again.

Elderly people continue to be the priority population in Phase 2.

Other Phase 2 populations currently scheduled for their vaccinations include:

● K12 teachers and staff,

● Child care workers,

● Rescuers and police, and

● City and county critical infrastructure workers.

For more information on how vaccine doses are distributed, watch the latest edition of FAQ Friday.

Vaccine supply remains the main barrier to vaccinating our community.

Unfortunately, due to the state allocation process, local officials cannot say when you can expect the vaccine at the time of registration. Be patient and someone will call you as soon as we have the vaccine available to you.

You can track the weekly KDHE vaccination allocation for each county in the KansasVaccine.gov data page.

Those who do not have access to the Internet can register by phone or by visiting the Salina Senior Services Center.

Remember to be friendly to medical personnel who work tirelessly to serve the community of Saline County.
