WCSC parents were encouraged to take free holiday breaks

In March last year, when all the schools were suddenly closed, my daughter was sent home with a spreadsheet package and a hunger like no other. I call her Summer Snack Monster for every summer she STARS all the time and she wants to eat all the snacks! Summer Snack Monster was very clear during these “lockdown” months. It sounds like a stupid and shallow parent but I got really tired of feeding my baby quickly.

Since then, she has happily eaten lunch and now breakfast at school! Earlier this year, the school system announced that breakfast and lunch would be free for all students regardless of need. It sounds good. Now, as the holiday break comes up, the Warrick County Food and Nutrition Dept asks that parents and caregivers consider picking up a free lunch package for the break regardless of need.

According to the WCSC Food & Nutrition Dept email today, by picking up one or both of the free food packages, you will “give WCSC Food & Nutrition Department employees work during the holidays when they would not normally receive a paycheck for every meal given to a student provides more funding for the Food & Nutrition Department. More meals are served = more school funding. “

Meal rates include one week breakfast, one week lunch and milk. Download will be on MONDAY 21 December 2020 and MONDAY 28 December 2020 between 16.30 and 17.30 (extended hours offered at CHS). Drive up Grab n ‘Go Meal pick-up for Christmas is available at TEN locations throughout the district:
