Launchings of the new explorable zone of the Genshin Impact

Get ready for this, guys. Genshin Impact has launched its first map addition and is not just here for the holidays. The new Dragonspine zone is here to stay and it is quite cold. Update 1.2 for Mihoyo’s open-world fighter has arrived, adding a new cold status effect, a new in-game event and many other changes.

The Dragonspine area will feature Genshin’s new “pure cold” status effect. If you accumulate too much while staying in the sub-zero mountain climate, you will begin to suffer health damage. Walking through a snowstorm or swimming in the cold will accelerate your cold build-up, while heat sources like campfires and torches will remove it. Get ready for the cold, because Dragonspine is home to puzzles and missions that you will want to hunt.

This also marks the beginning of the “Prince Chalk and the Dragon” event, during which Mihoyo says that you can win the new Festering Desire weapon. The event will unfold in four acts during the rest of December, during which you can complete challenges to unlock the special abilities of Festering Desire.

You can find all the rest of the essential questions about the event in Mihoyo’s post. Complete update notes with bug fixes, new character details and more are here.
