Hidalgo and Turner will be accompanied by Harris County Director of Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention, Dr. Sherri Onyiego, and City of Houston Medical Director, Dr. David Persse.

“People are barely holding on now,” said Houstonian Jason Millis.
While the new restrictions on COVID-19 have just been announced, which will affect Galveston and other counties in southeastern Texas, many hope that this is not the case in Houston.

“Everyone is just trying to survive and it is difficult,” said Sammie Tran with Vietopia in southwest Houston.
Tran has seen many friends close his stores and says it has been heartbreaking. Another shutdown or reduction can force you to close your doors forever.
“When we got food to go, it wasn’t enough. We need people sitting around drinking,” said Tran.
Cuchara in Montrose is also holding back. They expanded out to give their customers peace of mind over dinner.
“It has been very difficult since the beginning. We cut many people’s hours,” said Cuchara general manager Lorena Tejeda.
Fortunately, no one was dismissed, but it is always a scary thought. Cuchara has lost about 40% of his business since the pandemic.
