An anti-capitalist protester went up the ladder … but it was not the ladder of success, because he fell to the ground during a demonstration, injuring himself when the sidewalk drained with a black substance.

He went down Friday on Madison Avenue when Kevin Clarke, 32, was trying to climb a railing at Chase Bank. The higher he got, the more he fought until he lost control and fell about 9 meters from the ground, hurting his hips.
Many of the protesters, including Clarke, were armed with spray paint to disfigure the building. When Clarke hit the floor, the can apparently broke because black paint covered the sidewalk around where it landed. At least one other protester used his intact paint can to inscribe his message on one of Chase Bank’s walls.
Clarke was arrested on charges of reckless danger and taken to a hospital for treatment. He must be fine.
It was a scaled-down version of Occupy Wall Street, but with far fewer people and no real organization. Clarke kind of got in the way.
