Untitled Goose Game has cast you as the mischievous resident of a parish village, and it only makes sense that a game in which you play like a crow sends you into some strange demonic dimension. So it is in Death’s Door, in which you control a crow trying to recover its “assigned soul” by fighting beasts and demigods in a “kingdom untouched by death”.
It’s from the developers of Titan Souls, and there’s an announcement trailer below.
It is also being published by Devolver Digital, and they know how to produce trailers, don’t they?
The scenery and its crows and frog steaks are interesting, but there is nothing in combat that I haven’t seen before. There is a quick and quick exchange between melee blows and shooting arrows, and well-wired attacks by various bosses.
This matters? Probably not when it’s done right, and Death’s Door is from Acid Nerve, the two-person team (and friends) responsible for Titan Souls 2015. It was a similar explosion of top-down combat against strange boss monsters and Adam loved it. Brendan considered it one of the best games, like Dark Souls.
The game’s Steam page offers some extra details, except that it is aiming for a release in the summer of 2021, which will be soon. Now someone tell me what happened to Eitr, a previous stab game announced by Devolver, but never released.
