2021 NFL Draft: South Carolina CB Jaycee Horn plans to meet Cowboys after Pro Day on Wednesday

We are in the second week of free agency now. The Dallas Cowboys chose the turtle approach in terms of hiring outside free agents; so far they have chosen to fill some vacancies, mainly deep players. The Cowboys made a sort of spectacular signing with landing guard / linebacker Keanu Neal, and of course they brought back Dak Prescott and Jourdan Lewis.

We have known for about a decade that Cowboys believe in building their team through the NFL Draft. They could come out with a top cornerback when all is said and done and there really seem to be only two main options at this point.

South Carolina CB Jaycee Horn plans to meet the Cowboys after his Professional Day on Wednesday

It’s been a busy week in the cornerback front for the draft, as Monday’s news about Caleb Farley has made some believe that he is now not a realistic option for the Cowboys with the tenth overall choice.

This would apparently suggest that Patrick Surtain II, who had his Pro Day on Tuesday, would be the guy for Dallas if he was available when they were on the clock. While it is difficult to be upset about this, it is also possible that the Cowboys will choose to trade back and get more capital. That would be wise.

Let’s say the Cowboys took this approach. Depending on how much they negotiated back, they might still be able to get someone like Jaycee Horn from South Carolina. Assuming there is a legitimate amount of capital going to Dallas for them to return, it would be a good result and the Cowboys plan to spend some time with Horn.

We are only a month away from the NFL Draft, but there is still plenty of time for things to change in several directions. Preparing for the possibility of Horn is a worthwhile exercise for Cowboys fans and even beyond an exchange scenario.

What would that imply? Well, obviously we’re all pretty stoned with Patrick Surtain II and, although it makes sense that positionally he could last until the Cowboys were chosen, consider that he had a very good Professional day on Tuesday. Like … very, very good.

The Denver Broncos have a choice in front of the Cowboys and, although their recent signing of Kyle Fuller may dissuade them from going to the cornerback, anything is possible. In addition, there is always the possibility of someone swapping and jumping in the Cowboys for Surtain.
