Contra Costa County Opens COVID-19 Vaccines for People 50 and Over – NBC Bay Area

Contra Costa County is expanding the eligibility of the COVID-19 vaccine to include those 50 years of age or older, the county health department announced on Monday.

The expansion, with immediate effect, applies to people in that age group who live or work in the municipality, regardless of whether they have an underlying health problem, the health department said.

An increase in the supply of vaccines has allowed the county to open eligibility for more people, the health department said.

“We are looking forward to the next few months, when we can end vaccine eligibility, when anyone and everyone is eligible,” said Diane Burgis, chairman of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, in a statement. “More and more doses of vaccine are hitting the county market each week and we expect this trend to continue.”

Those who are eligible to be vaccinated can request an interview through the county by filling out this form or calling 833-829-2626.
