Walker Kessler may be going to Gonzaga

Is former UNC basketball player Walker Kessler joining the Gonzaga Bulldogs?

Upon hearing the news that North Carolina’s freshman center, Walker Kessler, would be leaving the program and entering the NCAA’s transfer portal, it wasn’t long before rumors began to circulate about where it might end next season.

A few hours after the announcement that totally shook North Carolina fans, the conversation about Kessler’s future whereabouts began to reach social media. First it was a tweet from Joe Tipton from Tipton Edits, stating that Kessler could go to the Great Northwest to play for the national power Gonzaga.

Next up was college basketball and recruiting aficionado Andrew Slater, who quoted Tipton’s original tweet with a good-natured GIF that simply said, “Yes, you heard me right” Slater has been involved in the basketball game for a long time and tends to be on the inside, as is Tipton, who has almost 19,000 followers on Twitter due to the relationships and relationships he has built with high school and college basketball players.

Whether or not Kessler will end up joining Mark Few and the Zags has yet to be seen, but he is definitely the type of player who apparently would fit his scheme incredibly well. After all, Gonzaga was one of Kessler’s six finalists before committing to North Carolina in September 2019.

One thing we know is that Gonzaga, the best team in the country from start to finish this season and the prohibitive favorite of the NCAA Tournament, would have a great team lined up next season, regardless of what Kessler decides to do. Bulldogs are the favorites to get the 5 star Hunter Sallis combo and the 5 star Chet Holmgren. If Kessler joins the group in the fall of 2021, the rich will become increasingly wealthy, despite losing a handful of future NBA players from their current squad.

No matter what shirt Kessler will wear next season, we will continue to root for him. We will also follow the development of the situation with former Tar Heel as he decides with which program he wants to continue his career.
