SALT LAKE CITY – On Sunday, the Utah Department of Health reported an additional 375 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, along with two deaths and an additional 15,236 vaccines administered.
This leads Utah to 381,629 total cases, 2,062 deaths and 1,152,282 vaccines administered since the start of the pandemic. Nearly 419,000 Utahns are now fully vaccinated, meaning they received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or an injection of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
There are currently 157 Utahns hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 52 in intensive care. Last week, the state recorded an average of 466 new cases reported per day and a positive test rate of 4.1% using the “test on test” measurement.
Sunday’s numbers come with 7,990 more tests since Saturday.
The deaths reported on Sunday include a man from Washington County over 85 years old, residing in a long-term care facility, and a man from Weber County between 65 and 84 who was not hospitalized when he died.
Governor Spencer Cox and other state leaders are expected to speak to the public about the latest developments in coronavirus during their regular news conference later this week; the conference usually takes place on Thursdays.
On Wednesday, all Utahns over the age of 16 will become eligible to schedule an appointment to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
