In one of the most fun games of the day so far in the round of 16, 3rd place in the Arkansas Razorbacks defeated 6th place in the Texas Tech Red Raiders by a score of 68-66. The Razorbacks were led by Justin Smith, who scored 20 points.
Arkansas led for the entire second half of the game, after a three-point lead at halftime. However, the Razorbacks almost lost a 13-point lead with nine minutes left, allowing Texas Tech to run an 11-0 run to erase the deficit.
Technology had a chance to tie or win the game in final possession, but failed to score. They also had a couple of lost layups and a lost free throw in front of one and one in their last three possessions in the game.
In the defeat, Texas Tech was led by Terrence Shannon Jr. who scored 20 points. Mac McClung was kept with just nine points from two of the six pitches.
Arkansas will play the No. 7 Florida winner against No. 15 Oral Roberts on Sweet 16. The last time the Razorbacks were on Sweet 16 was in 1996, ending a 25-year drought.
