Celebrities, billionaires and influencers join the NFT craze

As the craze for crypto art continues, celebrities, billionaires and influencers are entering the trend and selling some of their own.

NFL player Rob Gronkowski, rapper Ja Rule, Lindsay Lohan and Mark Cuban, among others, boarded. And Alex Atallah, the co-founder of the NFT OpenSea market, told Insider that he hopes to see even more celebrities enter the space.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, have allowed artists to sell their digital works for thousands and even millions of dollars. They are gaining popularity because NFTs – which are usually digital assets that operate as a type of collector’s item and cannot be duplicated – are now a market of more than $ 1 billion.

As for CEOs, Twitter chief Jack Dorsey sold his first tweet of 2006 for millions and donated the money to charities. And just this week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has been a big promoter of cryptocurrencies, said he would sell techno music as an NFT. But he later disowned, saying it didn’t seem right. His girlfriend, Grimes, made millions selling cryptographic art.

Shark Tank billionaire and star Mark Cuban sold an NFT for a motivational quote that said, “No one ever changed the world by doing what everyone else was doing – Mark Cuban.”

As for the music industry, Shawn Mendes joined Genies, which makes 2D avatars, to make virtual versions of his guitar and gold ring and sell them as NFTs, Rolling Stone reported.

Hoping to get rid of the bad vibes of his days at the Fyre Festival, rapper Ja Rule auctioned off an oil painting that once hung in the Fyre Media office as an NFT on a new Flipkick platform, and he offered to sign it to the buyer.

Other musicians also joined the trend. The Kings of Leon was the first band to sell an entirely new album, entitled “When You See Yourself”, as an NFT, Rolling Stone Reported. And in a tweet, DJ Steve Aoki announced his first NFT collection.

In the world of sports, Tampa Bay Buccaneer Rob Gronkowski, also known as Gronk, announced on Twitter that he would launch his own NFT collection. Four pieces of art celebrate his victories in the championship and one is the highlight of his career, according to his website. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sold millions of dollars in NFTs in just minutes, the actionnetwork reported.

As for influencers, Paris Hilton sold a cat painting for $ 17,000, Decrypt reported. And Lyndsay Lohan sold her “Lightning” NFT for $ 50,000 and promised to donate the funds to charities that accept cryptocurrency, according to Decrypt.

With a lot of money to make in NFTs, Internet influencers are likely to continue to join the space. So far, YouTube stars like Logan Paul and Zach “ZHC” Hsiehn have already started to experience the trend.
